Chemo
Most of the time, the oncologist will tell you to not use any antioxidents while doing chemo. Though there are studies that show they can help, if you choose to do chemo, I would do what YOUR doctor tells you to do.
Chemo
Yes, I know many young women who have had chemo for breast cancer and survived without a recurrance for five years or more. I also know women who are stage 3 who have done well with chemo. And, I know women who are stage 4 and have been treated with chemo and have survived over five years.
Chemo
I would be doing high dose antioxidants, preferably starting at least 1 or 2 weeks before starting the chemo. You are likely to get far superior results and go some what to protecting the body.
Mammogram new standards
and unwilling hospitals. I was wondering, is anyone else having unbelievable amounts of difficulty getting an ultrasound, MRI, or CT scan of their breasts as opposed to getting a mammogram? I switched from U of M to Beaumont thinking that Beaumont would probably be following the new standards before anyone else, but it’s not so. The only thing I hear is that they need to do a mammogram or they won’t know what to look for in any other tests… Mammograms never show anything for me… too much white (density).
A Note About the Word "Cure"
It seems to me that the word “cure” to the allopathic medical community means that a particular disease is not affecting the body anymore and requires no further treatment…but it has nothing to do with if a person is actually healthy. One can be cured, but not necessarily and quite often the case, still in poor health. It is the state of comprimised health and poor immune response that began the disease in the first place (usually) and unless a person changes what goes in and on their body, cancer or some other degenerative disease will inevitably develop again - only to start the cycle of attempting to “cure” the disease, rather than address the actual causes.
Chemo
Before I share my experience, let me say that I do NOT believe in chemo … I have a Stage IV breast cancer and I have not done it this time around and I’m almost 3 years out from dx. That being said, I DID do it … LOTS of it (standard dose as well as high dose w/stem cell transplant) the first time around in ‘99. I’m still here, 10 years later and would be healthy as a horse if this freakin’ cancer hadn’t spread. Anyway, please don’t think that everyone who does chemo dies from it. It does do horrendous things to your body, and sometimes it will kill a patient … or complications from the chemo, but certainly not all the time … and probably not even most of the time.
Chemo
I’m seeing the Chemo Dr. tomorrow and wondering if any of you know anyone who has actually had Chemo and survived 5+ years? I’ve heard so much conflicting information and I’m torn between getting Chemo and the Budwig protocol. I have a dependent young adult son and have to try and go with what will keep me around the longest. Thanks, karen

Agave Nectar is like sugar
Hi folks,
I want to stop eating sugars and bread, but I usually hear what not to eat. Please tell me what you actually eat during the day. How about the second and third day ? Year after year ? It seems difficult to make the change, especially when you do not live alone.

Low cholesterol may be sign of undiagnosed cancer
Low cholesterol may be sign of undiagnosed cancer
Tuesday, November 3, 2009
By Julie Steenhuysen CHICAGO (Reuters Life!) - Low total cholesterol may be a sign of cancer rather than a cause, as some researchers have suggested, and men who have low cholesterol actually have a lower risk of developing high-risk prostate cancer, two teams reported on Tuesday. Both studies, reported in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, shed new light on the role of cholesterol and cancer. For years, researchers had noticed that people who have lower total cholesterol — a combination of both low-density lipoprotein or LDL, the “bad” kind, and high-density lipoprotein or HDL, the “good” kind — appeared more likely to have certain types of cancers than other people. That was worrisome because having low cholesterol, and particularly low levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, has been shown to protect against heart attacks and strokes. “Our study affirms that lower total cholesterol may be caused by undiagnosed cancer,” Dr. Demetrius Albanes, a senior investigator at the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, said in a statement. “In terms of a public health message, we found that higher levels of ‘good’ cholesterol seem to be protective for all cancers,” he said. The 18-year study of nearly 30,000 Finnish male smokers is the largest and longest of its kind. During that period, 7,545 men developed cancer. The men with lower total cholesterol levels — below 230 milligrams/deciliter — had an 18 percent higher risk of cancer overall — just as in earlier studies. But, when they excluded cancers that occurred in the first nine years of the study, this risk disappears. “This finding supports the idea that the lower serum total cholesterol level we detected as a possible cancer risk factor may actually have been the result of undiagnosed cancers,” Albanes told reporters in a telephone briefing. They also found men who had higher levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol (above 40 milligrams/deciliter) had a 14 percent lower risk of cancer even after excluding nine years of early cases. MORE STUDIES NEEDED Albanes said the notion that high levels of HDL may protect against cancer is new and needs to be confirmed in other studies, particularly among women. “The results should help dispel any lingering concerns anyone might have that having low cholesterol could cause cancer,” Eric Jacobs of the American Cancer Society told reporters. A companion study of more than 5,000 U.S. men by Elizabeth Platz of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and colleagues found a link between low cholesterol and a lower risk of high-grade prostate cancer among 5,586 men over 55. They found that if men had total cholesterol of less than 200 milligrams/deciliter, they had a nearly 60 percent lower risk of developing high grade prostate cancer, the riskiest kind. It is not clear whether taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs might help men with prostate cancer. That would need to be studied, Platz said. (Editing by Maggie Fox and Mohammad Zargham)
Thank You Joe/Ray.

Stevia and Agave Nectar
Refined sugar is a drug and a poison Glucose is a sugar found usually with other sugars, in fruits and vegetables. Its a key material in the metablosim of all plants and animals. Dextrose, derived synthetically from starch, also called corn sugar fructose is a sugar fruit Maltose is a malt sugar Lactose is a milk sugar Sucrose is refined sugar is refined from the sugar cane and sugar beet. what is left consists of pure, refined carbohydrates. The body cannot utilize the refined starch and carbohydrate unless the depleted proteins, vitiamins and minerals are present. Nature supplies these elements in each plant in quantities sufficient to metabolize the carbohydrate in that particular plant. Most of this information I got from the book the Sugar blues by William Dufty. Its a excellent book and one I highly recommend. Its been over three years since I have consumed any refined sugar. Yes I am a former sugar addict like most in the world today. I remember well the shakes, headaches etc when I gave it up, but it only lasted a few days and after I came out of the FOG. The world would be a much better place without refined sugar in it. I know for me, my energy levels are much higher. Havent had one head ache, or pain in the three years since I have changed my diet. Of course I also gave up booze, all refined foods, all aniaml protein, wheat, glutin, at the same time. My cravings stopped for me after a few short months. Eat to live, don’t live to eat, Mike M. P.S I do use stevia, honey and xylitol as sweeters. but try to limit even those as much as possible
breast cancer-Prostate
Ray, you mention the PSA number of 4. Was that when Cancer was discovered? How did they determine there was cancer? If they did a biopsy, what was the Gleason score.
